All You Need For A Complete Kwanzaa Celebration

A complete Kwanzaa celebration has all the elements of any great cultural celebration. Those elements include great food, drinks, decor, and more. For a great cultural celebration, you want customized elements, especially for a celebration such as Kwanzaa.

Like all great cultural celebrations, a complete Kwanzaa celebration is centered around food. For Kwanzaa it’s soul food. We are talking about a true feast that includes collard greens, gravy, cornbread, candied yams, turkey wings and more. These are the key dishes for a complete Kwanzaa celebration feast and can be prepared by Chef Maisha, owner of Uniquely Sweet La.⁣

Kwanzaa is a celebration of African culture based on traditional harvest festivals.

The Kwanzaa holiday celebration starts the day after Christmas and goes through January 1.  Kwanzaa is celebrated in the African American community and is based on the traditional African harvest festivals and includes various African cultural traditions.

Each day of the 7-day celebration is focused on a different principle and each night a candle on the Kinara is lit. The Kinara is a special wooden candle holder specific for the complete Kwanzaa celebration.

When family and friends gather together for Kwanzaa there is lots of food, story-telling, and activities based on each daily principle.

Day 1 – Unity
Day 2 – Self-Determination
Day 3 – Collective Work & Responsibility
Day 4 – Cooperative Economics
Day 5 – Purpose
Day 6 – Creativity
Day 7 – Faith

A complete Kwanzaa celebration incorporates the colors red, black & green.

The color scheme for Kwanzaa is red, black and green. These colors can be incorporated in all your decor along with traditional African fabric designs. We especially like the colors in a Kwanzaa balloon garland designed by Rin Dear Events & Design. To match the African theme, she added Kente cloth strips to complete the look. Kente cloth is a traditional fabric worn by the Ashante tribe of Ghana, West Africa.

Balloons are the perfect element to any celebration and vendors like Rin Dear Events & Design can be found on Festively. They can help spice up any celebration wit custom designs.

As we are all social distancing, our Kwanzaa celebrations this year will not allow us to gather in large crowds. However, we can send a card with our best wishes through the mail. A greeting card is a great way to share gratitude and greetings. Gorgeous greetings cards designed by Black Stationery are a sincere way to express your Happy Kwanzaa sentiments to family and friends.

If you have a sweet tooth, a mouth-watering cake from Dr. Shica’s Bakery will be perfect for your complete Kwanzaa celebration. One of the many things we love about small businesses is their ability to customize treats like this Kwanzaa cake. She was able to add elements of red, green, and gold to match the colors of a complete Kwanzaa celebration. And the cake was absolutely delicious.
